Congratulations on your finish. I'm the lawyer from Dallas who ran with you at Oklahoma City this year and talked your ear off about my ultra dreams. So glad to see you're continuing to realize your dreams. Didn't know about your issues at OKC until I read about them here. I left the pace group on the uphill/into the wind section about mile 20 to make sure I could get my time. 4:44:40. 20 seconds to spare... Next goal is to get under 4:30 this fall and complete my first 50 miler next spring. Look forward to the Badwater report on the blog. Keep it up!
While I was covering the 2009 Badwater Ultramarathon for CNNI had the following experience. It was a clear morning Wednesday the 15th of July, the final racers were approaching Lone Pine California on their journey from Badwater in Death Valley. #46, Arnold Begay, a Navajo from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma was making his push towards Mount Whitney and needed a lift... there was not a cloud in the sky but there were shadows passing over Arnold... something between Arnold and the hot morning sun... in the thermals above a gift of support... this racer had the power... these are Great White Pelicans!

Hi Arnold, I was following a friend who was running Badwater and saw your last name and wondered if you were Navajo. I started following you too and cheered when you finished. I made a $135 donation to your charity. Congrats on a huge accomplishment!
I am Navajo/Mojave and also run. Just finished my 15th marathon.
